Contact lenses provide a convenient and comfortable alternative to wearing eyeglasses.
Whether you want the flexibility of daily disposables, the long-term value of monthly lenses, or the specialized fit of scleral lenses, there’s a contact lens option for nearly everyone.

Contact lens with your lifestyle
Contact lenses are a great choice for people who live an active lifestyle, want a wider field of vision, or prefer a more natural look. Designed for comfort and breathability, modern lenses help keep your eyes hydrated and healthy throughout the day.
At Norfolk Family Eye Care, we offer a wide range of contact lenses, including coloured lenses for a fun change and specialty lenses for more complex vision needs. No matter your prescription or lifestyle, we can help you find the perfect fit.
Your contact lens fitting
A proper contact lens fitting is essential to ensure comfort, clarity, and eye health. The first step is scheduling a contact lens evaluation with one of our expert optometrists.
This appointment includes a thorough eye examination to assess your vision and eye health, as well as your eyelid structure and the measurements of your cornea – the clear, dome-shaped front surface of the eye – to determine the best lens shape, size, and material for you.
Once we have found a suitable option, we’ll provide a trial pair to ensure they fit and feel right. A certified optometric assistant will guide you through inserting and removing your lenses, ensuring you feel confident handling them on your own. In-person training is available for new contact lens wearers, and adjustments can be made as needed to optimize both vision and comfort.
After finalizing your prescription, we’ll provide detailed instructions on proper lens care, cleaning, disinfection, and how often to replace them. Follow-up visits give us the opportunity to assess how you’re adjusting to your contact lenses and make any changes to your prescription or lens style as needed.

Caring for your lenses
Maintaining proper hygiene when wearing contact lenses is crucial. To avoid eye infections, it’s essential to follow proper contact lens care as recommended by your optometrist. Here are some general rules of thumb:
- Avoid wearing soft contact lenses overnight
- Clean your lenses thoroughly with a sterile solution every time you remove them, and never reuse the solution
- Disinfect your lenses daily with fresh solution
- Replace your lenses regularly – typically every 1 month for traditional lenses
- For daily disposable lenses, always use a new pair each day
- Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before handling your contact lenses
- Avoid wearing lenses while swimming, using hot tubs, or in environments with excessive dust or debris to reduce the risk of infection.
Are contacts right for you?
While contact lenses are a great option for many people, they may not be suitable for everyone. Certain conditions, such as chronic dry eye, frequent exposure to dusty or smoky environments, or a history of eye infections, may affect your ability to wear contacts comfortably.
Our optometrists will discuss your lifestyle, eye health, and vision needs to find out whether contact lenses are the right choice for you.
